Abstract

The Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau is characterized by its vast area and strong thermal and dynamic forcing, which make it one unique climatic unit distinguished from other regions of the same latitude. It exerts strong influences on the atmospheric conditions in its surroundings, as well as regional and global climatic conditions. The uplift of the plateau during the past several million years has greatly affected the environment of the plateau itself, the neighboring regions, and the global environmental changes.
