Abstract
In this chapter I will be concerned mainly with acoustic analyses of Navajo vowels and fricatives. I confine the discussion to these two sets of sounds; they constitute distinctive aspects of the sound inventory and its integration into the system as a whole. The basic points of spectrographic analysis will be discussed as they pertain to the goal of providing a baseline description of these sounds as they are realized within the system.
