Abstract
Commonplace notions do not necessarily have simple definitions; rather the opposite may hold true. Arterial hypertension is a typical case of an often-used medical concept which is more difficult to define than might be assumed at first thought; yet it is imperative to define it well, just because the term is so frequently used.
