Abstract

At the 3rd biennial conference on the ethology and behavioral ecology of fishes, several papers were presented at a special symposium on Applied Aspects of Fish Behavior, and a number of others were given in contributed plenary sessions. Authors of those papers had the opportunity to submit manuscripts for publication in this special issue of the journal. The papers published here are the result of those submitted, following the normal review and editorial processes. While there is obviously no single theme to this collection of papers, we will emphasize some points illustrated at the conference and in these papers.
