EIA Manuals: General Objectives and the PADC Manual

  • Chapter
Environmental Impact Assessment

Part of the book series: NATO ASI Series ((ASID,volume 14))

Abstract

As EIA has grown in importance there has been a need to provide advice and assistance to those involved in the process of impact assessment. This has ranged from the development of specific methods to implement particular requirements of the EIA process, to broader advice and guidance. One such feature has been the development of EIA manuals. This chapter will consider the general objectives of EIA manuals and then describe in some detail one such manual that has been produced in the UK for use by central and local.government, developers, consultants and the general public who may be affected by development proposals.
