Abstract

The problems related to vulvo-vaginal atrophy in the perimenopause are often disregarded or even disdained for reasons that are mostly determined culturally. Women brought up on a sexually restrictive climate of embarrassment often hesitate to mention such problems even to their gynaecologist. The gynaecologist, usually male, in turn tends to consider the decrease of sexual activity caused by these problems as simply to be expected.
