Desert Development

Part of the book series: The GeoJournal Library ((GEJL,volume 4))

Abstract

One of the definitions of architecture is: ’The art and the technology of building, employed to fulfil the practical and expressive requirements of civilized people’ (Britanica, 1973). In the desert, in most cases the emphasis was put more on the practical aspects than on the expressive ones, mainly because of the special characteristics of the desert and its inhabitants.
