Abstract

Since the beginning of reconstructive middle ear surgery there has always been an interest in implant materials. The use of alloplastic implant materials in the middle ear was disappointing because of extrusion.1,2However, it is worthwhile to realize that the most successful middle ear reconstruction, in otosclerosis patients, is performed with alloplastic implants.3
