Abstract

To ascertain whether the use of toxic drugs (such as methadone after heroin) affects visual function, 30 cooperative young drug-addicts are examined by the use of a battery of tests. Visual acuity, isopter perimetry and fundus oculi do not seem to exhibit deviations from normality. Colour discrimination, although within the normal range for the score of errors, shows some well defined axes in the tritan and tetartan directions. Fusional amplitude and accommodation amplitude (often accompanied by anisometropia) are found to be clearly subnormal.
