Abstract
The advantages of the use of animal infectious disease models in determining the efficacy of antimicrobial agents are discussed. They are of particular interest in veterinary medicine as the antibiotic can be studied in the same species, where it will be used clinically. A good infectious disease model should fulfill several criteria. In our laboratory, we developed Streptococcus zooepidemicus disease models in beagle dogs and horses. The results are shortly discussed.
