Abstract
I have the feeling that an exceptional opportunity appears for me now as chairman of the Scientific Committee of the present Colloquium, to make a few personal comments on some discussions that took place during this first part of the meeting, in connection with what I said in my introductory talk. You will remember that I very much insisted on the contribution that in my opinion, visual double star astronomy should bring to what may be considered as two of the most important “pillars” in modern astronomical research: stellar evolution and galactic dynamics and structure. At the start of this poster session, I would like to come back for a while to both of these aspects of double star astronomy because it seems to me that we have now reached a point of our discussions where each of these two subjects finds or will find a good illustration.
