Abstract

The methods of mathematical and physical modeling are applied to study steady and time-dependent flows, and heat-mass transfer characteristics in the single crystal growth systems with MHD effects in the melt, and on the solidification front. A variety of MHD phenomena, occuring at closely similar conditions, and their possible effect on the growth conditions, and characteristics of the produced single crystals is considered and analysed consequentially. The theoretical and experimental results concerning effects due to the electromagnetic fields:suppression and (or) intensification of different kinds of convective flows in the melt, including specific flows caused by thermoelectric phenomena on the phase interface;thickness of the boundary layers, etc. are reported.
