Abstract

Domestic burns in children due to explosion of gas are relatively common in Algeria. Reasons for this include:

  • Poor housing conditions.

  • Widespread use of butane gas which is often defectively bottled (absence of joints, overpressure), including imprudent persons to open up the bottles to decompress them in the open air, with the risk of disastrous explosions.
