A typology of customer driven manufacturing

  • Chapter
Book cover Customer-driven Manufacturing

Abstract

There are many types of customer driven manufacturing. All of these types may have common characteristics, as explained in the previous chapters, but they are not the same. There are big differences between a repair shop and an aircraft company or between ship building and truck manufacturing — and these differences are explained and highlighted in the present chapter. In this chapter, the nature of customer driven manufacturing is investigated by means of a typology, which is presented in Section 6.2
