Abstract

In the hop-growing area of Spalt near Nuremberg, where hop is grown since the 15th century, hop yields are decreasing year by year. Yields dropped from about 32 q/ha in 1980 to 18 q/ha nowadays, without any external disease-symptoms to be seen at the hop plants.
