Abstract
Objective To investigate the status of undergraduates’ critical thinking ability and improve medical students thinking ability and comprehensive quality in college of Stomatology Lanzhou University. Methods 238 undergraduates of Stomatology Lanzhou University were selected by cluster sampling method of the United States California critical thinking disposition questionnaire (CCTDI). Results the average total score of critical thinking ability of undergraduate students of Stomatology Lanzhou University was more than 280 points which showed positive effect on critical thinking ability. Among all the seven critical thinking characteristics, average scores of each item were all positive (>40 points) except that the score of Truth seeking (38.98 ± 5.304) and Systematicity (39.01 ± 4.406) were not meaning.There were statistically significant differences among different grades students loving this profession, strengthening the understanding of critical thinking ability (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Undergraduates’ critical thinking is showed positive effect in college of Stomatology Lanzhou University. However, there still are some shortages. The traditional course system should be continuously reformed; a variety of teaching methods can be implemented to further strengthen the critical thinking ability of medical students.
