Samenvatting

We spreken over chronische vermoeidheid als deze klacht ten minste zes maanden bestaat. Ernstige chronische vermoeidheid doet zich bij talloze chronische ziekten veelvuldig voor. Ook na succesvolle behandeling van kanker komt chronische vermoeidheid voor. Het chronischvermoeidheidssyndroom (CVS) is een aandoening, waarbij de vermoeidheid gepaard gaat met aanzienlijke beperkingen in het dagelijks functioneren, zonder dat een lichamelijke verklaring gevonden is. CVS moet niet verward worden met de chronische vermoeidheid die optreedt bij een chronische ziekte of met chronische vermoeidheid na kanker; we spreken dan niet van CVS.
