De afdrukprocedure voor de volledige gebitsprothese

De volledige gebitsprothese in woord en beeld

Een afdruk ten behoeve van een volledige gebitsprothese kan worden gezien als het ‘negatief’ van het prothesedragend oppervlak van de edentate kaak. De afdruk wordt met een plastisch materiaal vervaardigd en verhardt min of meer in de mond zodat een ‘negatief’ model van de orale weefsels wordt verkregen. Nadat de afdruk uit de mond is genomen, wordt deze als mal gebruikt om hiermee met behulp van gips weer een ‘positief’ model van de edentate mond te verkrijgen.
