Per porre diagnosi di gravidanza il primo test da effettuare è un test immunologico (5a-6a settimana di amenorrea) per la ricerca della β-hCG nelle urine o nel siero materno. Se il test risulta positivo, quindi in caso di accertamento della gravidanza, è di fondamentale importanza la visita ostetrica.
