Abstract
The calpionellids are urn-shaped (Fig. 1) planktic Protozoans that were first described (Calpionella; Fig. 1(1)) from the Late Jurassic (Tithonian) limestones of Alps (Lorenz in II Der südliche Rhätikon, Berichte der Naturforschenden Gesellschaft zu Freiburg 12:35–95, 1902). Calpionellids are typically found in deep-sea deposits of the Late Jurassic and, less frequently, in the earliest Cretaceous. Calpionellids are typically found in deep-sea deposits of the Late Jurassic and, less frequently, in the earliest Cretaceous.
