Die vorliegende Arbeit basiert auf der Annahme, dass die Führungskraft in einer Tochtergesellschaft die zentrale Rolle bei der Etablierung unternehmerischen Führungsverhaltens spielt. Um nicht auf die deterministische Sicht von Eigenschaften und demographischen Variablen der Entscheidungsträger beschränkt zu bleiben, wird der Fokus auf den beabsichtigten, erwartungsgetriebenen und situativen Charakter einer Entscheidung, die Tochtergesellschaft unternehmerisch zu führen, gerichtet.870 Die Initiierung innovativer, unternehmerischer Projekte in etablierten Unternehmen bzw. ihren dezentralen Einheiten wird daher als beabsichtigte Handlungen der internen Akteure verstanden, wofür nach McFadzean et al. drei Elemente entscheidend sind: eine unternehmerische Einstellung, eine Vision und konkrete Handlungen. 871

Die Autoren führen aus, dass der Eigenschaften-Ansatz längst seinen Sättigungspunkt erreicht habe, insbesondere deshalb, weil sich dieser Forschungszweig auf die expost Untersuchung von Unternehmensgründungen und Unternehmern konzentrierte und dabei annahm, dass sich Eigenschaften, Einstellungen und Denkhaltungen nicht verändern. Damit wurde unterstellt, dass persönliche Erwartungen, situative Faktoren und das Urteil des sozialen Umfelds eine im Vergleich zu den Eigenschaften und der sozialen Stellung nur untergeordnete Rolle für die persönliche Entscheidungsfin-dung des unternehmerischen Individuums spielen.
