Abstract
The importance of the traditional cruise consumer behaviour forms the frame of this work. In taking a developmental perspective this provides an innovative insight into the cruise concept to evaluate how the traditional cruise market consumer experience is being re-shaped. The globalised spread of the industry and aspects of environmental and social responsibility are examined. The significance of the traditional cruise market in relation to demographics is considered. Conclusions are drawn suggesting reasons why these elements may prove important to sustainability of the traditional cruise market.
