Zusammenfassung

Polyolefine gehören zu den wichtigsten synthetischen Polymeren. In den 20er Jahren des 20. Jahrhunderts hat Hermann Staudinger (Univ. Freiburg; Nobelpreis 1953) grundlegende Vorstellungen zur Struktur von Makromolekülen entwickelt. Untersuchungen zur Natrium- und zur radikalisch initiierten Polymerisation von Dienen ab 1910 haben in den 30er Jahren zur großtechnischen Produktion von Synthesekautschuk geführt. Bereits um 1930 sind die ersten industriellen Verfahren zur radikalischen Polymerisation von Vinylchlorid, -acetat und Styrol entwickelt worden.
