Glued near polygons

Abstract

Let S₁ and S₂ be two near polygons and let Γ be a nonnegative integer. We will show that if S₁ and S₂ satisfy certain nice properties, then (a) new near polygon(s) of diameter diam (S₁)+diam (S₁) — δ can be derived from S₁ and S₂. We call these new near polygons glued near polygons of type δ. The contents of this chapter are based on the papers [29], [30], [33], [35], [38] [41], [46], [58] and [59].
