Abstract
Surgical treatment of ischemic brain disorders was first reported by Strully et al. in 195375 and already the most representative kind of neurosurgery, carotid endarterectomy, has a history of more than 30 years. Moreover, since Yaşargi182 devised the superior temporal artery to middle cerebral artery (STA-MCA) anastomosis technique in 1967, a variety of vascular reconstruction methods have come into use. Together with developments in microsurgery, these techniques have been applied according to the sites of vascular occlusion and to recipient and donor vessels.
