Summary
A new EEG quantification method based on detection of signal intensity and shape-factor was applied to stereotactic ventrolateral thalamotomy in treating Parkinson’s disease. Signal groups that probably were derived from opposing hyperactive discharges could be demonstrated as well as their disappearance after the therapeutic coagulation. Usefulness of the method for investigating of thalamic electrophysiology and for assessment of extent of the coagulation is discussed.
