Summary

The author describes a method for percutaneous implant of a chronic electrode into the Gasserian ganglion. Such electrode, after a percutaneous test period, can be coupled to a subcutaneous receiver for chronic stimulation. The implanting procedure does not require any incision in the face.

No technical problems have been encountered in the first five patients treated with this method for trigeminal pain.
