Abstract
The electrochemical polymerization of poly(3-octyl-thiophene) was studied in situ by the external reflection FT-IR technique. Polymerization was made in 0.1 M LiBF4—propylenecarbonate solution of the monomer, 3-octylthiophene, and of the dimer, 4,4′-dioctyl-2,2′-bithiophene. The growth of the film and the structure of the resulting polymer material from these solutions was compared. The effect of the current density on the polymer structure polymerized from the monomer was also studied.
