Abstract
Stoneflies (Plecoptera) comprise a world-wide distributed order of insects. They mostly live in cold regions, e.g. in the mountains of the temperate region, while they occur rather rarely in the warmer regions of the continents. Since nymphs prefer certain types of water and imagos fly within a restricted area, the distribution of most species are well defined.
