Abstract
The treatment of chronic anterior shoulder instability associated with bone loss is still controversial. Arthroscopic Bankart repair (ABR) has a failure rate that may be higher than 20%, in young patients practicing contact sports and the risk factors are bony defects shoulder hyperlaxity and anterior capsular deficiency. The Latarjet procedure has been advocated the solution for all anterior shoulder instability for its low rate of recurrence in the presence of all these risk factors, but it has to be considered a non-anatomical reconstruction with a significant number of intra- and postoperative complications. We are describing an arthroscopic technique consisting of an augmentation to the Bankart repair using the upper third of the subscapularis tendon (ASA) and we present its correct indications and results.
