Zusammenfassung
Bereits in Abschn. 1.1 wurde die Bedeutung der Suchmaschinen u. a. mit ihrer massenhaften Verwendung begründet. Damit verbunden ist der anscheinend unerschütterliche Glaube der Nutzenden an die Qualität und Objektivität der Suchergebnisse, die bereits 2003 mit einem Zitat aus einer Nutzerstudie schön auf den Punkt gebracht wurde: „Of course it’s true, I saw it on the Internet“ (Graham und Metaxas 2003). Tremel (2010 S. 249) fasst seine Untersuchung zur Glaubwürdigkeit von Suchergebnissen folgendermaßen zusammen: „Nutzer [‚folgen‘] offenbar weitgehend unreflektiert der Maschine und ihrer Relevanzbeurteilung, die sich implizit im Ranking der Treffer ausdrückt.“
