Abstract
There are future research needs for the successful environmental management of the Pearl River Estuary, under the current general framework of the Greater Bay Area. The Pearl River Estuary should become the real ‘Pearl’ of the Greater Bay Area in its environmental protection and management. Future research should further focus on the transport and cycling of contaminants, impacts of contaminants and ecosystem management of the estuary.
