Zusammenfassung
In diesem Kapitel werden eingangs die grundlegenden Prinzipien und Zusammenhänge der biologischen Evolution (basierend auf Mutation und Selektion) erläutert. Im mittleren Teil geht es dann vertiefend um die verschiedenen Arten von Mutationen und wie diese entstehen können. Der letzte Teil des Kapitels befasst sich schließlich mit Reparaturmechanismen, die einerseits Schäden an der DNA und Mutationen entgegenwirken, teilweise aber auch selbst Ursache für Mutationen sind.
