Actithiazic Acid

  • Chapter
Antibiotics

Abstract

Actithiazic acid was discovered and isolated concurrently in four different laboratories. Names proposed for the organisms producing the antibiotic were Streptomyces virginiae (Grundy et al., 1952) S. acidomyceticus (Miyake et al., 1953 a), S. lavendulae (Tejera et al., 1952), and S. cinnamonensis (Maeda et al., 1953). Synonyms for actithiazic acid are acidomycin, cinnamonin and mycobacidin.
