Edeine and Pactamycin

Abstract

Edeine is a basic polypeptide antibiotic produced by Bacillus brevis (Kurylo-Borowska, 1959). It inhibits gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria at 10μg/ml, some fungi and yeasts and mammalian neoplastic cells in tissue culture. Some of its chemical and biological properties are listed in Table 1.
