Ein neuer endotrachealer Tubus mit minimalem Totraum

Summary

The purpose of this system is to reduce the dead space and resistance to air flow in the tube and thereby the respiratory work to a minimum, particularly in premature babies and infants under one year. Systems available hitherto have a relatively large dead space, which must be compensated by hyperventilation. However, higher respiratory rates increase ventilation of the dead space. The present system can be applied in semi-closed or closed circuits, and allow adequate monitoring of the pulmonary ventilation. This is achieved by separation of the exspiratory and inspiratory ducts as far as the vocal cords.

Zusammenfassung

Das System dient der Reduzierung von Totraum, Atemarbeit und Tubuswiderstand auf ein Minimum — vorwiegend bei Früh-, Neugeborenen und Säuglingen bis zu einem Jahr. Die bisher bekannten Systeme haben einen relativ großen Totraum, welcher durch Hyperventilation kompensiert werden muß. Durch Erhöhung der Atemfrequenz kommt es jedoch zu einer vermehrten Totraumventilation. Das vorgestellte System wird im halbgeschlossenen oder geschlossenen Kreissystem eingesetzt und ermöglicht eine ausreichende Kontrolle der Lungenventilation. Dies wird gelöst durch Trennung von Exspirations- und Inspirationsschenkel bis zur Stimmritze.
