Abstract
In a recent interview, a consultant in the field of ATE remarked that Incoming Inspection is often the lost orphan among the departments of a manufacturing company. For years it has been caught in the double bind situation of being given little budget allotment while having to test or inspect an enormous variety of parts. Typically, a PCB manufacturer’s mix will consist of such components as discrete devices (both passive and active), linear and TTL devices, and possibly some microprocessors, peripheral chips and memory.
