Zusammenfassung

Historisches. Auf kaum einem Gebiet der normalen und pathologischen Physiologie erwies sich die Einführung der Isotopen so fruchtbar wie für die Erkenntnis des Jodstoffwechsels, da dieses Element durch seine engsten Beziehungen zum Schilddrüsenhormon schon früher der Indicator für die Funktion dieses Inkretorganes war. Durch die Signierung des Jods mittels eines radioaktiven Isotopen wurde die Möglichkeit geschaffen, sich sozusagen an seine Spuren zu heften und durch Messung seiner Radioaktivität seinen hierdurch aufgezeichneten Weg zu verfolgen.
