Abstract
From the ground pattern of the Euarthropoda paired lateral compound eyes and four median eyes were carried over into the ground pattern of the Chelicerata. Their alternative continuance within the Chelicerata can be used as the first justification of the systematization into the adelphotaxa Pantopoda and Euchelicerata.
