Zusammenfassung
Biofeedback als therapeutische Intervention zur Verbesserung der Wahrnehmung und Kontrolle physiologischer Funktionen mit dem Ziel des Abbaus funktioneller Störungen hat historisch seine Wurzeln in der tierexperimentellen Forschung. Die Untersuchungen von Miller u. DiCara (vgl. Miller 1969; Miller et al. 1970) aus den 6oer Jahren zeigten, daß physiologische Funktionen nicht nur durch klassisches Konditionieren im Sinne Pawlows sondern auch durch operantes Konditionieren, also durch eine systematische Manipulation von Kontingenzen, zu verändern sind. So gelang es z. B. durch Verstärkung die Herzrate von Ratten zu erhöhen bzw. zu erniedrigen (Miller u. DiCara 1967), oder den Blutdurchfluß durch das Rattenohr (!) zu verändern (DiCara u. Miller 1968).
