Die Behandlung chronischer Schmerzsyndrome: Plädoyer für einen integrativen Therapieansatz

Zusammenfassung

Ganz sicher findet die Mehrzahl von Behandlungsversuchen bei chronischen Schmerzsyndromen heute immer noch in der Praxis des Allgemeinmediziners, des Arztes für innere Medizin, des Orthopäden oder eines anderen Facharztes statt. Sind erst einmal alle kausalen, d. h. die vermutete „Ursache“ des Schmerzes betreffenden Therapieversuche aufgegeben oder von vornherein als unmöglich bewertet worden, so besteht die Behandlung oft nur noch aus der Verordnung von Analgetika zur Schmerzunterdrückung. Häufiger werden zur Schmerzlinderung auch Massagen, Bestrahlungen und Bäder insbesondere bei muskuloskelettalen Schmerzstörungen sowie physiotherapeutische Übungen eingesetzt. Nicht selten werden heute auch Psychopharmaka (z. B. Tranquilizer, Antidepressiva) über lange Zeit verordnet.
