Zusammenfassung

Die Beurteilung der weiblichen Genitalorgane ist in erster Linie über die bimanuelle Untersuchung — den Tastbefund — möglich. Daneben ist die transabdominale sonographische Diagnostik — und in den letzten Jahren die transvaginale Sonographie, gerade für den niedergelassenen Gynäkologen, nicht mehr wegzudenken. Der diagnostische Zugewinn durch den Einsatz der Sonographie bei diesen Fragestellungen soll bei 20–50% liegen (Sautter 1990). Die differentialdiagnostische Abklärung eines auffälligen Tastbefundes mit Hilfe des Ultraschalls ist daher inzwischen unverzichtbarer Bestandteil jeder gynäkologischen Untersuchung geworden, zudem sich auch immer häufiger die Möglichkeit bietet, dadurch kleinere invasive Eingriffe aus diagnostischen oder therapeutischen Gründen ambulant durchführen zu können.
