Abstract
This study presents results of sensitivity calculations with the adjoint of the continental scale Eulerian chemistry transport model for the boundary layer CHIMERE. Sensitivities are calculated for the seasonal statistical parameter AOT40 at three different locations in France (near Paris, Lyon and MarScille) with respect to a variety of model parameters. Regarding sensitivity to emissions the results obtained for the three locations differ substantially with respect to the NOx/VOC importance and the source region of emissions responsible for elevated ozone concentrations. Further it is shown that uncertainties introduced by other model parameters may have an influence on the model result of the same order of magnitude as uncertainties of emissions.
