Abstract
Interfaces between various information system vendors have been the topic of debate between radiology administrators and hospital information departments. So much so, that many department managers are confused and reluctant to purchase radiology systems. Managers have heard from their peers of high interfacing costs, broken promises and incomplete system installations. Yet, these same managers recognize that the single total hospital system vendor may not be satisfying the radiology departments needs and therefore the department may want the option to select a “niche” radiology system.
