Abstract

As is fitting to a textbook, we started with autecology, the study of the individual species in relation to certain environmental factors. We stressed clear-cut cases of relation with one specific factor, to allow an orderly review as well as the recognition of natural divisions. Although ecological principles were also presented, the pigeon-holes were necessary for general orientation.
