Zusammenfassung
Biodiversität und Landschaft sind tiefgreifend miteinander verbunden. Zum einen beeinflusst die Vielfalt der Arten eines Lebensraums die Landschaft, da Landschaftselemente wie bspw. Gewässer oder Gehölze je nach Artzusammensetzung, auf unterschiedliche Weise genutzt werden. Zum anderem hat auch die Landschaft selbst Auswirkungen auf die Artenvielfalt in ihr. Hier spielen menschliche Aktivitäten, die zur Veränderung von Landschaften führen, eine wichtige Rolle, da so Lebensräume von Arten verändert werden können. Dabei sind insbesondere Aktivitäten wie Abholzung, Verschmutzung, aber auch Übernutzung und Verstädterung von Landschaften bzw. Lebensräumen zu nennen, aber auch das Einschleppen gebietsfremder Arten durch den Menschen oder der menschengemachte Klimawandel. Um die Artenvielfalt, die derzeit so rapide abnimmt wie noch zu keinem anderen Zeitpunkt in der Menschheitsgeschichte, zu schützen, ist daher ein nachhaltiger Umgang mit der Landschaft unausweichlich. Insbesondere, wenn man die Dienstleistungen bedenkt, die Ökosysteme für Menschen bereithalten, wird der Vorteil von artenreichen Landschaften bzw. Ökosystemen deutlich. In diesem Kapitel wird dies am Beispiel von Vogelarten genauer erläutert, da diese die Landschaft beeinflussen, in der sie vorkommen, aber auch von dieser beeinflusst werden. Zudem beeinflusst die Vogelvielfalt auch das Wohlbefinden von Menschen, unter anderem, indem sie die akustische Prägung (Soundscape) einer Landschaft beeinflussen.
