Wie wird zu Fridays for Future geforscht? Überblick zur Vielfalt der Forschungsansätze

Zusammenfassung

Die Fridays for Future Bewegung wird aus verschiedenen Perspektiven erforscht. In den letzten Jahren hat sich daher ein beachtlicher Korpus an Beiträgen entwickelt. Hierbei gehen Forscher:innen unterschiedlichen Fragestellungen nach und nutzen unterschiedliche analytische Perspektiven sowie methodische Zugänge. Im folgenden Beitrag verfolgen wir das Ziel, einen Überblick hierzu zu erstellen, die zentralen Fragen, Methoden, Datenbasen und Vorgehensweisen der bestehenden Forschung abzubilden und zu systematisieren. Wir knüpfen dabei an bestehende Forschung zur Methodik der Bewegungsforschung an und zeigen, dass auch die Analyse der Fridays for Future Bewegung durch einen Methodenpluralismus gekennzeichnet ist. Vor allem die Nutzung von Daten, die über soziale Medien erhoben werden, stellt hierbei eine Innovation in der Bewegungsforschung dar, die auch in Analysen zu Fridays for Future angewendet wurden. Wir zeigen im Beitrag zudem, dass die Forschung zur Bewegung durch einen geografischen Fokus vor allem auf Europa gekennzeichnet ist. Unsere Untersuchung identifiziert einige relevante Desiderate im Hinblick auf Forschung zu Fridays for Future, die wir abschließend als Anknüpfungspunkte für zukünftige Forschung vorschlagen.
