Zusammenfassung
Entgrenzung von Zuständigkeiten, Kompetenzen und Abläufen ist in der PR-Praxis in Mode. In diesem konzeptionellen Beitrag argumentieren wir, dass diese modische Verschiebung von der Grenzziehung zur Entgrenzung neben der Praxis auch in funktionalen, interpretativen und kritischen Forschungsfeldern der PR beobachtbar ist. Dominierten lange dualisierende ‚Entweder-Oder‘-Zugänge, die eine Grenzziehung zwischen Oben und Unten (teleologische Unterscheidung von Zweck und Mittel), Innen und Außen (funktionale Unterscheidung durch Spezialisierung) sowie Anfangs- und Endpunkt (lineare Unterscheidung von Start und Ziel) betonten, setzen sich nun non-dualistische ‚Sowohl-als-Auch‘-Zugänge durch. Sie stehen für Entgrenzung im Sinne flexibler Zweck-Mittel-Relationen, hybrider Kompetenzen und iterativ-zirkulärer Prozesse. Wir begründen diese modische Verschiebung über ein Revival post-bürokratischen Denkens im Zuge des aktuellen Wirtschafts-, Digital- und Wertewandels und diskutieren abschließend verschiedene Szenarien für eine nicht länger modehörige, sondern modereflexive PR-Forschung. Letztere setzt sich kritisch mit der Promotions- und Rechtfertigungsfunktion der PR in der Verbreitung von Moden auseinander, erkennt die wechselseitige Bedingtheit sich ablösender Modeströmungen an und geht auf Folgeprobleme ihrer Einführung im Lichte pluralisierter und beschleunigter Modezyklen ein.
