Zusammenfassung
Dieser Beitrag wirft die Frage auf, in welcher Weise Religion, insbesondere christliche Deutungsmuster und Identitäten, zur Programmatik der heutigen radikalen Rechten in liberalen Demokratien gehört und unter welchen Bedingungen dieses Angebot zur erfolgreichen rechtsradikalen Mobilisierung beiträgt. Ausgehend von einem Konzept des Rechtsradikalismus, das die Religion als Determinante der Unterscheidung zwischen Ingroup und Outgroup einbezieht, skizziert der Artikel den sich wandelnden Kontext der gegenwärtigen radikalen Rechten, um sodann die programmatische Entwicklung der wichtigsten Akteure der radikalen Rechten in Bezug auf die Religion, d. h. die „Angebotsseite“, zu erörtern. Der Artikel argumentiert, dass christliche Deutungsmuster und Identitäten zwar kein Kernelement der rechtsradikalen Ideologie sind, in der rechtsradikalen Strategie und Mobilisierung gegen die wahrgenommene Bedrohung durch den raschen soziokulturellen Wandel und seine vermeintlichen Träger jedoch als immer wichtigerer Stellvertreter für und in wachsendem Maße auch als Ergänzung von Fremdenfeindlichkeit fungieren.
