Zusammenfassung
Dass moderne Demokratien im Zeitalter von Globalisierung, Populismus und Autoritarismus vor fundamentalen Herausforderungen stehen, kann mittlerweile schon als Binsenweisheit gelten. Mit diesem Fokus auf „externe“ Bedrohungen der Demokratie wird jedoch eine weitere Gefahr übersehen, der sich Demokratien durch die jahrzehntelange Anhäufung politischer Maßnahmen selbst ausgesetzt haben. Wir haben uns daran gewöhnt, dass der Gesetzgeber jedes Jahr zusätzliche Maßnahmen erlässt, die unseren Alltag beeinflussen.
